Two decades of intensive photographic documentation has culminated in the release of a large-format book of black-and-white portraits: CoalDust Grins — Portraits of Canadian Coal Miners.
The 312-page book edited by Kerry McArthur contains 280 beautifully printed photographs from the five coal-producing provinces: British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and the Yukon. More than 450 individuals from 85 communities and 50 coal mines are represented; approximately half the photographs are accompanied by entertaining biographies.
For selected excerpts from this much acclaimed book, please visit the CoalDust Grins Gallery located on the Galleries page.
